Nate and his mom picked us up at the hotel and drove us to the MOC. We said our goodbyes and hit the trail. I wish we had more time to hangout but we’re on a tight schedule, it’s time to lock in and get to Maine. Our first full day in New Jersey and good news, it was chilly outside! Seems like the storms brought in a cold front, and I’m not complaining. A couple of large youth groups passed us on the trail, which slowed us down a bit as we let them pass. From there, the trail was rather enjoyable. Lots of lake views and smooth paths. I forgot how much I love the outdoors when I’m not being cooked alive. The cool air followed us all day. We came across two fire towers and stopped by Mo’s BBQ, just .2 miles from the trail. A 20-mile day which ended at a shelter full of obnoxious high schoolers. They took over the place with all their junk, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me from getting a good night’s rest. I set up my tent and put my earplugs in.
